February is Heart Month: Focus on Cholesterol

Optimal cholesterol management is an important part of reducing atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Evidence-based treatments are readily available. Treatment protocols and decision aids can assist clinical teams and their patients in making informed decisions that can lead to fewer heart attacks and strokes.

Looking for more information on how to improve cholesterol management for your patients? Check out the 2018 Guidelines on Cholesterol Management and the ASCVD Risk Calculator, to help identify treatment options for patients who may be at risk for a cardiac event.

Looking for materials and information to share with your patients about cholesterol and statins? Check out the Million Hearts webpage for patient-facing materials and videos about statins, familial hypercholesterolemia and the Statin Choice Decision Aid, a tool to engage both patients and providers in making decisions about how to manage heart health.
