April is Minority Health Month

April is National Minority Health Month and the theme for this year is Active & Healthy. With the nation advised to stay in and around their homes, engaging in physical activity may not be the highest priority. But, physical activity not only helps improve physical health but it also improves immune function and boosts mental health.

Join #ActiveandHealthy, a national social media campaign focusing on the steps the nation can take every day in and around the home to keep minds and bodies active, consistent with the social distancing guidelines to stop the spread of COVID-19.The campaign includes creative ways to keep older adults and children safe and physically engaged, along with ideas to stay connected with friends, family and communities. Throughout the month Office of Minority Health features daily themes promoting safe physical activity while still maintaining social distance, promotes the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans along with Health Promotion’s Move Your Way campaign.
