Million Hearts Hypertension Control Challenge is Open

The 2020 Million Hearts® Hypertension Control Challenge is now open.

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is common and dangerous but controllable. Yet only about 1 in 4 adults with hypertension have their condition under control. The Hypertension Control Challenge, a key part of the Million Hearts® 2022 initiative, identifies and spotlights health care professionals, practices, and systems that have achieved exemplary control rates in their patients with hypertension. Since 2012, Million Hearts® has recognized 118 Hypertension Control Champions, including many in Colorado.

We now challenge you, your teams, and your networks to join this stellar group of high performers by submitting your application for the 2020 Million Hearts® Hypertension Control Challenge. The Challenge is open to solo and group practices and health systems that achieve hypertension control rates of at least 80% for a 12-month period. Learn more about rules and eligibility requirements and submit applications at http://bit.ly/2SAsLpw. The Challenge will be open from February 21 through April 6, 2020.

If you have questions about the Challenge, email millionhearts@cdc.gov with “Million Hearts Hypertension Control Challenge” in the subject line. Please help us spread the word about this Challenge, and join your peers from across the nation in helping build a healthier America through hypertension control!
