New Clinical and Performance Quality Measures for High Blood Pressure

The American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) have jointly published new clinical and performance quality measures for adults with high blood pressure (HBP). These measures are not intended to serve as accountability measures, but to serve as a roadmap to care that moves beyond focusing only on BP control targets toward inclusion of broader care delivery systems and approaches.
Included are measures related to nonpharmacological interventions for high blood pressure, use of home blood pressure management, patient engagement in shared decision making, and infrastructure to address social determinants of health, among others.
