Brittany Goldstein and Sharon Crocco from CDPHE Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) team will highlight programs and policies adopted here in Colorado incentivizing healthy food environments as well as lessons learned and additional resources to support listeners interested in pursuing similar initiatives.
Shannon Spurlock, Director of Public Affairs and Policy at Denver Urban Gardens (DUG) will provide an overview of DUG’s involvement in community-based approaches to improving food environments and discuss resources and services DUG provides for listeners interested in special gardens.
These bimonthly calls provide a forum for Colorado state and local public health agencies and interested organizations to learn and share information about strategies, programs, and policies in the space of obesity prevention. Previous topics discussed on the calls include: healthy food retail, diabetes prevention, the Farm-to-School Program, and physical activity in child care settings.
