Addressing Depression and Disease Distress in Patients with Diabetes in FQHCs: The EPiC-4DM Project

Diabetes distress (DD) refers to the often hidden emotional burdens, stresses, and worries that are part of managing a demanding, progressive, chronic disease like diabetes. DD is a critical, yet often neglected component of comprehensive diabetes care.Please join the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine and the Metro Community Provider Network as they discuss evidence-based approaches to intervention for DD in primary care settings and share lessons learned in the EPiC-4DM Project.

Learning Objectives:
  • Describe Diabetes Distress and its effects on patients with disparities;
  • Discuss overlap and distinctions between distress and depression, and evidence-based approaches to intervention in primary care settings;
  • Distinguish various screening tools and appropriate use of screening tools in the FQHC setting; and
