Colorado Governor names SIM interim director

Barbara Martin, who runs the Transforming Clinical Practices Initiative (TCPi), has accepted the temporary role of interim director of the Colorado State Innovation Model (SIM). We view this role as a compliment to the amazing work being done by Tara, Nicole, Ryan and the entire SIM team.
Barbara has been engaged with the Colorado SIM initiative since 2013. She initially served on the core SIM team during the grant planning process, and more recently, led state public health efforts to implement population health strategies in support of the SIM initiative during her tenure as director of the Health Systems Unit at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
Ms. Martin joined the Colorado SIM Office in 2015, as the director of the TCPi grant, and is currently leading state-wide efforts to build a program that will support clinicians and practices to ensure a successful transition into new care delivery and payment models that will achieve our goal of making Colorado the healthiest state while providing crucial support to our vital health care workforce.
A search committee comprised of Governor's office staff, Advisory Board member Jeannie Ritter and Multi-Payer Collaborative member Julie Schilz continue to talk to candidates for the permanent director of SIM. The decision to appoint an interim director only reflects that it will take at least a month or two more to find the right individual for such an important task.
