Lake County Intermediate School recipient of the 2016 Governor's Award for School Health and Wellness

The Governor's Council for Active and Healthy Lifestyles, Colorado Education Initiative and Colorado Health Foundation have announced the 2016 Healthy School Champions. The Healthy School Champions program recognizes schools across Colorado for their successes in creating healthy school, environments and implementing effective school health efforts.  Lake County Intermediate School (LCIS), located in Leadville, is  the recipient of the 2016 Governor's Award for School Health and Wellness. LCIS was selected by a panel of experts representing public health, education, physical fitness and philanthropy from more than 470 schools and 15 finalists. LCIS joins Pagosa Springs Middle School, 2015 Governor's Award for School Health and Wellness winner, as leading model for schools in Colorado and across the country that wish to provide a healthy and safe learning environment for children and staff of all ages.  Visit the Colorado Education Initiative website to learn more about the Healthy School Champions Recognition Program.  The awards ceremony will take place at the Healthy Schools Summit on Friday, March 4 in Denver.  Click the image below to see all of this years award recipients.
