13th Annual Rocky Mountain Metabolic Syndrome Symposium

When: Friday May 6th, 2016

Where: University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Education 2 South Building Auditorium 

This course is designed to bring together leaders in research and medicine with a multidisciplinary group of healthcare practitioners from the Rocky Mountain Region. The activity focuses on practical approaches to the metabolic syndrome and key related clinical challenges.

Program sessions integrate the most current scientific and clinical information and incorporate case-based learning methods and include a discussion period after each presentation. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit industry exhibits.

Participants will learn to: 

  • Apply guidelines pertaining to the screening and assessment of the metabolic syndrome patient
  • Implement current diet and nutrition recommendations for patients with the metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes
  • Integrate challenges and current recommendations pertaining to reproductive endocrinology, menopause and related women's health issues
  • Evaluate practical strategies for managing insulin in patients with type 2 diabetes
  • Compare therapeutic advances in the management of atherosclerosis, dysplipidemia, type 2 diabetes, obesity and related disease centered on the metabolic syndrome
