Colorado Cancer Plan Announcement

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you, our valued partners across the state, for the hard and important work you do to reduce the burden of cancer in Colorado. Whether your work is research, patient care, outreach, advocacy, policy and systems development, or anything that makes a positive difference in the lives of those touched by cancer, CDPHE appreciates your time and passion.

As of April 9, the Colorado Cancer Coalition (CCC) and CDPHE have mutually agreed to end the contract that guided the relationship. The CCC will continue to explore future directions, and we will continue to work closely with the coalition.

CDPHE is committed to cancer prevention and control in Colorado and will be taking steps to make sure there is no loss of momentum in our collaborative efforts to reduce the state’s cancer burden. In February, CDPHE Comprehensive Cancer Coordinator Nikki Collins took over the leadership role in developing the 2016-2020 Colorado Cancer Plan. She will continue to work closely with the Cancer Plan Steering Committee and coalition task forces to ensure the plan remains a comprehensive and actionable document to guide collaborative cancer prevention and control activities in Colorado.

To make sure we put together the best Colorado Cancer Plan possible, we will send an online questionnaire by April 24 to our statewide cancer prevention and control partners to assess the needs, gaps and direction of the plan and ask for your guidance on implementation. We will then develop a summary report and proposed plan of action that we will share with you.

If you are interested in completing the questionnaire, please share your contact information with us here.

Thank you again for doing what you do. Please feel free to reach out to us with questions, comments or concerns.

Thank you,
