May 30, 2015 Power Saturday at the Shops Volunteer Opportunity

May is National High Blood Pressure Education and Stroke Awareness Month.

Last year, the CBHC Barbershop/Salon Program hosted volunteers at 7 barber shops and salons in the Denver metropolitan area to check community member's blood pressure. Community members completed stroke risk assessments, received information about hypertension and stroke, sampled healthy snacks and received no salt seasoning packs and pedometers.

This year's 2nd Annual Power Saturday event will be on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 8:30 am – 2 p.m and Colorado Black Health Collaborative is seeking volunteers to help with the program. You don’t have to have medical background to participate; Colorado Black Health Collaborative will provide training approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the event.  Box lunches will be provided for volunteers. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer for this community project, please contact Mabel Peters by April 10th at Mabel.D.Peters@kp.org.
