Denver Health data shows 94 percent of Denver residents now have health insurance

Just one year into its five-year Community Health Improvement Plan, Be Healthy Denver reported that 94 percent of residents in Denver now have health care insurance. This milestone marks the achievement of one of Denver’s three access to care goals.

Before implementation of the Affordable Care Act in 2014, approximately 108,000 people in Denver – nearly one in five residents – lacked health insurance. Since then, more than 71,000 previously uninsured Denver residents gained access to health care coverage through the expansion of Medicaid and Connect for Health Colorado insurance plans.
