Greeley bans e-cigarettes in public places

The Greeley City Council added e-cigarette vaporizing to that city's smoke-free law. Greeley’s no longer allows use of electronic smoking devices in places that have been smoke-free under the voter approved law. Greeley becomes the seventh Colorado community to add vaporization to its smoke-free law.

Electronic smoking devices remain unregulated, are not approved quit smoking products, have no requirement for ingredient disclosure. Tests of various devices have turned up the presence of toxic chemicals in the aerosol.

A 2011 study found heart attack admissions in Greeley dropped 27% during the 2 1⁄2 years following the smoke-free law passage in 2003.
