Million Hearts in Colorado: Webinar on Cholesterol Guidelines

Please join the American Heart Association and Million Hearts for the Million Hearts® and Cholesterol: 2013 ACC/AHA Guideline on the Treatment of Blood Cholesterol to Reduce Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Risk in Adults: Review of Case Studies on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 10:30 am – 11:30 pm MT.

In late 2013, the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology released a package of prevention guidelines covering lifestyle, obesity and overweight management, risk assessment and cholesterol management. The recommendations are an efficient way of finding people at increased risk who would benefit most from statin therapy, including those with heart attack and stroke, those with diabetes ages 40-75 years, and those with elevated low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. A key feature of the new guidelines is the importance of a clinician-patient discussion that addresses risk factor control, need for adherence to a healthy lifestyle and reviews the potential for benefit as well as the potential for adverse effects and drug interactions. This includes considering factors such as a family history of premature heart and stroke.

This presentation is geared toward Million Hearts® Collaboration Partners and Stakeholders, State and Local health departments, Healthcare Professionals, National Organizations and The Guideline Advantage members and Primary Care Physicians.
