Register by August 29- Colorado Coalition for Healthy Schools meeting

The next Colorado Coalition for Healthy Schools (CCHS) meeting is on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 8:30-3:30 at the SpringHill Suites located at 1190 Auraria Parkway, Denver, Colorado 80204 (across from the Pepsi Center). 

The afternoon will now include more information about how to participate in the Healthy Schools Collective Impact work. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Anyone interested in school health is welcome to participate.

Meeting objectives and agenda: 

After the morning sessions, participants will be able to: 
  • Define options for school gardens, describe benefits, and articulate how they can be integrated into the school for educational and community-building purposes.
  • Determine appropriate considerations of social and physical elements when starting a school garden.
  • Describe the impact of the Smart Snacks in Schools rules on competitive foods in schools, sodium and school fundraisers.
After the afternoon sessions, participants will be able to:
  • Share feedback on the new youth marijuana prevention campaign. 
  • Identify where to access the 2013 Healthy Kids Colorado Survey results and updates for future data collection.  
  • Determine ways to participate in, and provide feedback to, the new Healthy Schools Collective Impact Initiative.
