To raise awareness of Americans’ excess sodium intakes and the impact on health, AHA recently launched a new consumer sodium reduction campaign entitled, “I love you salt, but you’re breaking my heart.”
The campaign encourages people to take a pledge to reduce the sodium they eat, features a blog, quiz, and infographics, and provides links to lower-sodium recipes and educational articles on the website. The website also features a 1-minute video, “Don’t Let Salt Sneak Up On You” with the feature character, “Sneaky Salt."
Sodium reduction is a key strategy of the Million Hearts Initiative, an effort to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes by 2017. The American Heart Association is a partner in this initiative and you can be a partner too. Be one in a million - make your commitment and pledge today.
