Despierta Colorado Highlights the Diabetes Prevention Program

The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) was featured this morning on Despierta Colorado, the popular morning broadcast produced by Univision Spanish language network. In the spot, Despierta host Jessica Alvarado spoke with CREA Results director, Fernando Pineda, about the growing problem of prediabetes in Colorado and the Diabetes Prevention Program as a potent, evidence-based solution. The segment was part of a multi-pronged, bilingual media campaign partnership with CBS Television aimed at raising awareness of prediabetes and the DPP Lifestyle Program.

New estimates show that 86 million US adults- more than 1 in 3- have prediabetes*. The Diabetes Prevention Program is proven to help people with prediabetes and those at risk for type 2 diabetes make achievable and realistic lifestyle changes and cut their risk of type 2 diabetes by 58 percent. Recommending patients to this effective program can provide the motivation many need to take action. CREA Results is part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Colorado now boasts over 20 organizations who are recognized by the CDC to offer this intervention. Click here view the registry.
