Healthy Kids Colorado Survey- Results Coming Soon!

The Healthy Kids Colorado Survey (HKCS) collects anonymous, self-reported health information from Colorado middle and high school students. A unified version of the survey was launched in 2013 that consolidated multiple needs for youth health data and allowed for both state and regional-level data. The unified HKCS was administered in Fall 2013 to approximately 40,000 randomly-selected students from over 220 middle and high schools. The survey is administered to students in odd-numbered years, with next administration in Fall 2015.

Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) results. Colorado did not get weighted data for the high school YRBS in 2013. However, due to our unified HKCS, Colorado will have weighted data for the state and for 20 of the 21 Health Statistics Regions. The HKCS includes 61 YRBS questions, so there will be comparisons to national YRBS data coming later this summer and early fall.
