Did You Know, Colorado? June 4, 2014

  • Men's Health Week is celebrated each year during the week leading up to and including Father's Day. The goal of Men's Health Week is to raise awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.
  • The prevalence of chronic conditions and risk factors among adult men in Colorado: high cholesterol (35%), high blood pressure (27%), binge drinking (25%), obesity (21%), current smoking (19%), diabetes (8%), and heart attack (4%).1
  • Regular dental exams and colorectal cancer screening help with early detection and treatment of disease. In Colorado, 35% of adult men have not visited a dentist within the past year, and 33% of men aged 50 and older have never had a sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy for colorectal cancer screening.1
