Tobacco Use by Industry

Did you know that where you work may actually affect how likely you are to use tobacco, and can even affect how likely you are to die from lung cancer?  Men and women working in construction or mining are nearly twice as likely to smoke than those working in the health care field.  People who work with asbestos, and smoke, are nearly 30 times more likely to die from lung cancer than those who don't.

Employers can play a critical role in reducing the use of tobacco products by their employees, by offering worksite smoking interventions. Worksite smoking cessation interventions are more than twice as effective when integrated with occupational safety and health. Support the health of your employees, and assist them in quitting today.
