Coloradans living with hepatitis

Jolene is a Colorado mother who received a blood transfusion during the birth of her son. It saved her life, but it also gave her hepatitis C. Since that time our blood supply has been made more secure. Years since her initial treatment, Jolene must decide whether or not to endure a second course of treatment. Her first treatment left her depressed and in a fog, and she again will need the love of her son to continue her treatment. Jolene’s is one of ten stories about Colorado residents who have struggled with Hepatitis B and C. You can see them all on the CDPHE YouTube channel.

Hepatitis B and C are silent diseases that ravage the liver and can lead to cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, liver disease and even death. If you have been diagnosed with Hepatitis B or C, or know someone who has, these videos may help you see how others have dealt with their diagnosis.

If you have questions or comments about the videos or Hepatitis B and C, please contact the CDPHE Viral Hepatitis Program at 303-692-2780.
