- Coloradans need more physical activity. 38% of adults, 71% of high school students, and 50% of children aged 5-14 years do not meet physical activity guidelines.1
- One way to get that activity is by walking, which is the most popular form of physical activity in the U.S. Walking for as little as 30 minutes a day is one way to achieve significant health benefits. Among adult Coloradans who report physical activity in the past month, 60% say walking is one of their top two activities.1
- Public health agencies, community organizations, and employers can review the recommendations to increase physical activity from The Guide to Community Preventive Services and the CDC. Individuals can invite friends to take a walk, host a walking meeting at work, or replace a short driving trip with a walk (e.g., walk a child to safely to school).
