Health Links Colorado trains cancer coordinators

Last week, Health Links Colorado was honored to hold a private training for eight American Cancer Society (ACS) Regional Community Coordinators in Denver.  The Health Links training was part of a two and a half day ACS meeting for the coordinators who provide cancer screening and prevention education around the state.  The training marked an opportunity to have the ACS join the umbrella of organizations working with Health Links to promote health and wellness programs to small employers in Colorado.

“These ACS Community Coordinators do amazing work in cancer prevention and screening outreach,” states Lili Tenney, Co-Director of Health Links. “It’s an effort that's very well aligned with our mission to improve the overall health of Colorado’s workforce.”

The training provided ACS Coordinators with a framework to approach health promotion in the workplace including securing leadership commitment, establishing goals and designing effective programs that meet the needs of employees. As part of their work, the ACS Coordinators offer one on one time to discuss opportunities and local resources, as well as provide group education presentations on the importance of cancer screenings for Breast, Cervical, and Colorectal.  To find out more about services offered by the ACS, contact your regional coordinator listed here
Special thanks to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment for hosting us.
