CDC releases updated health disparities report

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released "Health Disparities and Inequalities Report - United States, 2013," an examination of  disparities in deaths and illness, use of health care, behavioral risk factors for disease, environmental hazards, and social determinants of health. The 2013 report updates data from a 2011 CDC report on health disparities and includes population data and analysis on race and ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability and socioeconomic status topics for applicable topic areas. The purpose of this report is to raise awareness of health disparities and prompt action to promote health equity. Findings can be useful to public health programs and partners, policy makers, media representatives and the public.
