Health Department Offers Early Childhood Obesity Prevention Messaging Resources

We all want just the right message at the right time! The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Early Childhood Obesity Prevention team announces the release of nine consumer-tested early childhood obesity prevention messages. The publication, Speaking With One Voice presents these messages and supporting content that address important healthy lifestyle behaviors found most promising in preventing overweight and obesity before it begins among Colorado’s youngest children. The goal of this project is to ensure pregnant women and families with infants and young children hear consistent messages in multiple settings where they spend time and interact with community members that potentially influence health. Visit the One Stop ECOP shop website at www.colorado.gov/cdphe/ecop. Explore the messaging materials under the ECOP Consistent Messaging tab.

This website also offers early childhood obesity prevention tools and resources for health care providers for use in caring for women of reproductive age, pregnant women, and families with infants and young children.

  1. The best exercise in pregnancy gets your heart pumping and keeps you supple, without causing you or your baby too much physical stress.
