Science In Brief Highlights American Heart Association Heart360 Home Blood Pressure Monitoring Program

High blood pressure is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease; one in four deaths in Colorado state are attributable to heart attacks and strokes.

Of the 1.2 million people in Colorado who have high blood pressure, less than half are in control. One way to help improve blood pressure control is to include home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) in outpatient
care.

The latest issue of Science In Brief provides a synopsis of “A Pharmacist-Led, American Heart Association Heart360 Web-Enabled Home Blood Pressure Monitoring Program,” which showed greater blood pressure reductions, better blood pressure control, and higher satisfaction with care.

High blood pressure management is a key strategy of the  Million Hearts Initiative, an effort to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes over five years.  Colorado participates in this initiative and you can too. Be one in a million - make your commitment and pledge today.
