State Agencies work together on Healthy Kids Colorado Survey

Coordination has been the focus of the 2013 administration of the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey. This new unified effort is sponsored by three state agencies: the Colorado Department of Education, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and Colorado Department of Human Services-Office of Behavioral Health. By working together, these agencies hope to reduce the number of requests for student health data collection, while at the same time, to improve the quality of the data that is collected. This collaboration will allow us to have both state and regional level data (for the 21 health statistics regions) for middle and high schools.
The selected contractor, University of Colorado Denver (UCD), is currently contacting selected middle and high schools for participation in the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey (HKCS) this fall. Recruitment letters were sent to superintendents and principals in May. Coordination with our local partners is also a focus for this administration, so contact us to ensure we are addressing local needs!

If you have any questions, please visit our website, www.hkcs2013.org, where you can view the surveys, frequently asked questions, and a PowerPoint overview presentation to learn more about the HKCS Steering Committee, Advisory Committee and other survey updates. If you have any other questions, please contact the project director, Dr. Jennifer Patnaik (303-724-7761, jennifer.patnaik@ucdenver.edu)
