Colorado WWC Releases an RFA for Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening

On Nov. 1, 2012, the Women’s Wellness Connection (WWC) at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) released a Request for Applications (RFA) to provide breast and cervical cancer screenings to eligible women throughout Colorado. 

Organizations applying must be able to:

  • Provide evidence based outreach/recruitment to eligible women who are 40-64 years of age, are below 250 percent of the Federal Poverty Level, are uninsured or under-insured, and are lawfully present in the United States.
  • Provide breast and cervical cancer screening services, including clinical breast examinations, Pap tests and pelvic examinations (must be performed in-house) 
  • Organizations must have the ability to subcontract services such as mammograms, ultrasound, breast biopsy, colposcopy, Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP), or other approved breast or cervical diagnostic services (see Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code list) if they are not provided in-house
  • Provide appropriate diagnosis and apply for the Breast Cervical Cancer Program Medicaid for treatment services for anyone who has abnormalities discovered in screening and early detection programs 
  • Provide case management services for all women with an abnormal breast or cervical cancer screening
  • Provide and enter data into the required Electronic Cancer Surveillance and Tracking (eCaST) system
  • Implement the program as outlined in the WWC Provider Toolkit.
