The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has identified 12 evidence-based strategies to reduce the weight of the state. The best way to implement these strategies and impact statewide obesity rates is through collaborative action with local public health agencies and other public and private partners. Please review the information below and visit the Obesity Integration Project page on COPrevent, the Prevention Services Division partner site, to learn more about this important public health initiative.
Collective Impact
We want to align our obesity efforts with those of our partners to reinforce, share and leverage obesity prevention strategies. There are five core components of a collective impact approach: a common agenda, a shared measurement system, mutually reinforcing
activities, continuous communication, and a backbone support
organization. To learn more, share ideas or get involved, please contact Andrea Wagner.
Local Public Health Agency Support
As CDPHE Obesity Integration Teams begin the process of
recruiting team members and developing logic models, EPE staff was kind enough
to conduct a training on logic model best practices. Feel free to use these resources and review the training video if it would help you draft your own strategies for obesity prevention or other public health initiatives.
