New CDC Sodium Resources

Forty-four percent (44%) of the sodium we eat comes from only 10 types of foods. Want to know what they are

CDC's Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention has released new fact sheets and a new guide on strategies for sodium reduction in worksites. These and other sodium reduction resources, including guides on government procurement policies, statistics for use in media, and educational materials to help consumers choose healthy options are now available from CDC.

Sodium reduction is a key strategy of the Million Hearts Initiative to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes over five years. Read more about the initiative at
