Obesity Integration Project Update & Final Priorities

After extensive input from internal and external partners, the CDPHE Obesity Integration Project Executive Committee has selected12 priority strategies to reduce obesity and improve the health of all Coloradans. Please SAVE THE DATE of Aug. 3, from 1 to 2 p.m. for an online forum to share the reasons for these strategies and plans for future implementation and support.

Obesity Integration Project Priority Strategies

  1. Addressing depression
  2. Baby friendly hospitals
  3. Built environment policies & conditions for healthy eating and active living (HEAL)
  4. Diabetes prevention program
  5. Electronic health records - provider documentation
  6. Environmental and policy conditions for HEAL with schools
  7. Farm to school
  8. Health plans covering obesity counseling / prevention services
  9. Modify food service practice in child care
  10. Policies to decrease sugar sweetened beverages
  11. Staff education & physical activity training in child care
  12. Work based strategies that combine physical activity and healthy eating

Thank you for your patience while the committee worked towards this final list of obesity priorities.  We appreciate all the dedicated time and effort our internal and external partners spent providing feedback and expertise throughout the process of reviewing, ranking and ultimately recommending 12 strategies from the 57 reviewed.
