The Colorado State Child Fatality Prevention Review Team
reviews specified deaths of children from birth to 18 years old involving circumstances
in which the children are receiving services from a county department or in
which there has been a report of suspected abuse or neglect in order to develop
a community approach to the problem of child abuse and neglect. Gov. John Hickenlooper named the following members to represent various geographic and professional areas:
- Sheriff James Crone of Fort Morgan, county sheriff from a rural area
- Artelle Jones of Pueblo West, district attorney from a rural area
- Maria Mandt of Denver, physician who specializes in traumatic injury or children’s health
- Antonia Chiesa of Denver, physician who specializes in traumatic injury or children’s death
- David Tennant of Sterling, county coroner
- Leon Kelly of Colorado Springs, county coroner
- Amber Urban of Aurora, peace officer who specializes in crimes against children
- Brian Steckler of Colorado Springs, peace officer who specializes in crimes against children
- George Wang of Golden, physician who specializes in traumatic injury or children’s health
- Jennifer Kelloff of Denver, physician who specializes in traumatic injury or children’s death
- Ricki Sorensen of Aurora, nurse who specializes in traumatic injury or children’s health
- Julie Hoff of Parker, nurse who specializes in traumatic injury or children’s health
- Janet Rowland of Grand Junction, county commissioner
Recommend at least one treatment provider who provides services/counseling to the parents/abusers/perpetrators of child abuse. Treatment providers have great insight of the human services and judicial systems.
ReplyDeletePlease review the Loveland CO death of 15 y/o Nichole Berthoud, who died in 2005. Larimer County DHS should have to answer -who was involved with this case and why wasn't it reveiwed at the appropriate time?
