As Addictive as Heroin or Cocaine

Remember When?

An interesting historical article appeared in Wired magazine today noting the time that the U.S. Surgeon General who, 20 years ago today, declared nicotine "as addictive as heroin or cocaine."  That statement marked a turning point in taking on the issue of tobacco and its adverse health effects head-on by prominent public health officials.

Twenty years later, the fight continues.  Want to join?  With the adoption of tobacco as one of the state's "Winnable Battles," and the introduction of the tobacco collaborative, you can pitch in.  To join the Colorado tobacco collaborative and keep up with the latest news, journal articles and policy developments, join the tobacco collaborative (or any of the other health collaboratives) by signing up at http://www.coprevent.org/p/prevention-priorities.html.
