Your Input is Requested by 4/16: LGBT Health Planning for Colorado

As we enter the final phases of the LGBT Health Outcomes Planning Project (HOPP) here at the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, we are asking for your input once again!

Many of you have been working hard with us over the last nine months as we’ve moved through the planning stages to develop our vision, identify the barriers, and determine our priority strategic directions for improving LGBT health in Colorado – so THANK YOU!

We’ve come a long way since last August – and we’re getting close, but we’re NOT DONE YET.

What we’re asking of you:
  1. review plans and share with your colleagues or organizational leadership as you see fit
  2. give us your feedback and suggestions in the online form listed below each Action Plan goal
  3. consider ways you/your organization/unit may be able to contribute to getting this work done – and include those ideas in your responses
GOAL 1: Competent and LGBT-affirming prevention, early intervention, and healthcare services are accessible throughout Colorado.
For questions or to discuss your potential role in this goal, contact Bob.Bongiovanni@state.co.us

GOAL 2: LGBT communities overtly practice and promote healthy living and report equitable health outcomes across the life course.
For questions or to discuss your potential role in this goal, contact Bonnie.Moya@state.co.us

GOAL 3: LGBT-affirming policies and political actions that strengthen individual and community partnerships to advance mutual aspiration.
For questions or to discuss your potential role in this goal, contact Indira.Gujral@state.co.us

GOAL 4: LGBT data and research that inform that state of Colorado about LGBT-specific health outcomes.
For questions or to discuss your potential role in this goal, contact Indira.Gujral@state.co.us

What’s Next for the HOPP:
This window of opportunity for stakeholder comment is only open from April 2 through April 16, 2012 at 5pm.  After that point, the leadership of the HOPP will be working to finalize these plans by the end of May.  For those who indicate an interest in contributing to specific objectives above, we will be contacting you in April & May to discuss the possibilities for collaboration.  Also, please MARK YOUR CALENDARS – We will be sharing these plans in final form, celebrating the HOPP, and kicking off the “implementation” – on Wednesday June 13 from 5-7pm (details to follow).

Please contact Julie.Graves@state.co.us with questions.
