Update on Colorado Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease and Pulmonary Disease (CCPD) Review Committee Funding Framework

Colorado CCPD Review Committee Approves Funding Framework for Upcoming Fiscal Year.

In preparation for developing a funding framework for the upcoming fiscal year the Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease and Pulmonary Disease (CCPD) Review Committee examined background information regarding Colorado chronic disease data; chronic disease risk factors; chronic disease systems dynamic models; chronic disease integration activities; health care reform and upcoming Affordable Care Act implementation; and the evidence-base for primary, secondary, and tertiary strategies for chronic disease prevention. In addition, the CCPD Review Committee solicited feedback from external stakeholders to inform the strategic funding approach of the CCPD competitive grants program.

Based on this information, the CCPD Review Committee adopted a funding framework that aligns with the Health Impact Pyramid, specifically focusing on interventions with the greatest impact such as interventions that change the context to make individuals’ default decisions healthy, clinical interventions that require limited contact but confer long-term protection, and ongoing direct clinical care.

The funding framework will inform the development of the Request for Applications and evaluation criteria, which will be released in mid-May.

Presentations from past CCPD meetings are embedded below.
