Job Announcement - CDPHE PSD Obesity Prevention Unit Manager

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's Prevention Services Division (PSD) is hiring an Obesity Prevention Unit Manager

This position strategically leads and manages a program of six staff by determining staffing needs, initiating and implementing the hiring process and making recommendations on hiring according to Department policies and procedures, directing assigned work based upon the Branch and Unit's work plan, communicating clear expectations to employees around performance and professional conduct which include attendance, workplace behavior, communication and competencies, and conducts reviews with employees on a regular basis; managing budgets; leading and directing prevention programs, focusing on physical activity, nutrition and obesity prevention programming for the state of Colorado; recommending program direction and assisting with the determination of physical activity, nutrition and obesity prevention strategies; interpreting and implementing policies, laws and regulations of state/federal directives; and developing positions on proposed obesity legislation for department leadership. The position also consults and coordinates with federal and state officials, public and private partners; directs searches for new funding sources and oversees grant application preparations and negotiations; and collaborates on obesity prevention services provided by other State departments. This position serves as the champion lead for the department's obesity winnable battle initiative.  The position announcement closes on April 9.
