Colorado School Food Changes, 2009-2011

Currently, there is no single, comprehensive source in Colorado that collects data on school food and school food reform. The Overview of School Food Changes in Colorado 2009-2011 identifies, collects and reviews all existing assessments, survey results and other data collection tools that capture information on school food and nutrition in Colorado. In addition, this document tracks key trends and reforms in school food, including:
  • Providing a fresh fruit and vegetable daily
  • Increasing partnerships with local farmers to provide local food in school meals
  • Increasing school breakfast participation
  • Implementing “healthy celebration” guidelines for school functions
  • Returning to “scratch” cooking.
