American Public Health Association - Power of Policy Webinars Posted Online

The American Public Health Association (APHA) is hosting a series of webinars aimed at improving the capacity of state, tribal, local or territorial health departments to use policy as a tool to improve population health.  The APHA is also posting archived videos of the webinars online.

The Power of Policy Webinar 2: Educating, Advocating, Lobbying:  What’s the difference and what role can health department staff play?  You can view the recording of the December 1, 2011 webinar online.  This webinar focused on policy as a tool for population health improvement, discusses the legal distinctions between policymaker education, advocacy, and lobbying, and clarifies what policy activities health department staff can legally engage in.

The Power of Policy Webinar 1: A Cost-Effective Tool for Improving Population Health.  You can view the recording of the October 5, 2011 webinar online. This first webinar in the series discussed the critical role policy plays in creating the physical and social environments that promote health.
