November is National Diabetes Month

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is partnering with the National Diabetes Education Program to raise awareness about the importance of making a plan to prevent type 2 diabetes and diabetes-related complications.

Diabetes affects nearly 26 million Americans and 230,000 Coloradans. Many more are at risk for diabetes due to obesity and other preventable health conditions.

Small steps toward healthier behaviors can go a long way in preventing diabetes. But first, make a plan. Choose a goal and work toward it, adjusting objectives or strategies as you learn what works and what doesn't. Consider what is important to you, what you are willing and able to do, and pick one small step each week to help you achieve your goal.
