National Influenza Vaccination Week - Dec 4-10

December 4-10, 2011 is National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW), a national observance sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and established to highlight the importance of continuing influenza vaccination, in addition to promoting greater use of flu vaccine after the holiday season into January and beyond. This year’s NIVW will encourage everyone six months and older to “Get the flu vaccine, not the flu.” During the Week, public health professionals, health care professionals, health advocates, communities and families across the country work together to promote flu vaccination. Resources for promoting NIVW including a media toolkit, print materials, audio and video tools, sample articles and more are available on the CDC’s Web site. Go to for more information or to submit information about an NIW event in your community.
