Great American Smokeout - Colorado Resources

It is once again time for the Great American Smokeout. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment partnered with the regional Health and Human Services office to issue a statewide press release prior to the Nov. 17 event. Our message this year is "Make a date with your doctor to quit smoking during the Great American Smokeout." We hope to motivate Colorado smokers to quit by reminding them of state and federal legislation requiring tobacco cessation coverage and urging them to contact their health care providers.

We've created a GASO 2011 Partner News Release Template as well as QuitLine Partner Resources and a helpful 10 Quit Tips. Please respect the data included, but feel free to modify the content to fit your organization's needs. Send the completed release to your local media and follow up with a phone call to encourage coverage of this nationwide event. Feel free to contact Dave Brendsel or Emma Goforth with CDPHE's Prevention Services Division for assistance.

We remain committed to working with you to reduce the consumption of tobacco products statewide through evidence-based education, prevention and cessation initiatives.
