Funding Opportunity: Stop Violence BEFORE it happens!

Preventing violence before it happens, prevents several other chronic health conditions.

Working together to integrate violence prevention in to related public health programs can boost health outcomes. This is one funding opportunity public health partners can seek to stop the violence.

Violence and fear of violence are major factors that undermine health and worsen health disparities. Preventing violence is an important component and has tremendous value of any effort to achieve health equity and create healthy communities. Violence prevention saves money and lives, and is a means to foster well-being, promote health equity, and strengthen communities.

This funding opportunity addresses the physical, mental, and emotional impact of violence against women across the life span and is available for specific events or activities intended to prevent, raise awareness of, and/or respond to the epidemic of violence against women and girls. This opportunity seeks projects that work to:

  • Increase awareness of violence and trauma affecting women and girls
  • Offer prevention strategies and messages
  • Promote trauma-informed care to decrease violence against women and girls
  • Promote recovery and resiliency
