Colorado Health Partners Form Oral Health Collaborative


The Department of Health and Human Services announced October 31st that oral health is one of the twelve categories of Leading Health Indicators (LHIs).

Dr. Howard Koh, Assistant Secretary of Health, stated that these indicators are "a call to action in critical public health areas that demand our immediate attention."

These LHIs will be used for the next decade as to work towards meeting the Healthy People 2020 goals. Below is a link to the full list of indicators:

The Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) identifies oral health as an area of health inequity that has evidence-based interventions which can efficiently minimize poor oral health outcomes. CDPHE, along with the Colorado Department of Human Services, the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, and external partners, have formed an oral health collaborative to address this important issue.
