CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report - Health Plan Implementation of US Preventative Task Force Recommendations

If you didn't catch the latest Morbitity and Mortality Weekly Report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, then you missed reading "Health Plan Implementation of U.S. Preventive Services Task Force A and B Recommendations --- Colorado, 2010" by the Colorado Department of Public Health's Sara Russell Rodriguez, Deb Osborne and Jillian Jacobellis.

The article featured in the second week of October 2011 issue of the MMWR. By shedding light on interpretive flexibility taken by health care plans when using the recommended services language from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the public health implication, according to the MMWR editors of the Colorado paper are that "public health organizations can assist health plans in interpreting federal health-care reform regulations and can work with health plans to define minimum baseline standards for all USPSTF recommended services required by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act."

Congrats, Sara, Deb and Jillian!  Any readers with questions about the paper or the work of the group in compiling the article, contact Jillian Jacobellis at jillian.jacobellis@state.co.us.
