Getting Your Message Heard: Reaching Communities of Color through Social and Ethnic Media

Public Health programs, coalitions and community-based organizations have many options for promoting health behaviors among culturally diverse communities. Two options include social media and ethnic media outlets.

Recent research has found that the use of social media by communities of color is increasing even faster than use by the general population. In addition, ethnic media outlets offer important avenues for reaching out to culturally diverse communities through targeted radio, television and newspapers.

Through this recorded webinar you will learn about trends and tips for reaching communities of color. You will hear about opportunities to use different types of other preventative health practives through ethnic media roundtables and other ethnic media activities.

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Identify at least one social media tool that is suited to promote healthy practices among targeted communities of color
  • Apply key findings and lessons-learned from partnerships with ethnic media outlets to promote health behaviors among communities of color;
  • Identify at least one resource for learning more about how best to reach communities of color using social media and ethnic media outlets.
