CDC awards $49 million in public health infrastrcture grants, more than $1 million to Colorado

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today awarded more than $49 million in grants, partly supported by the Affordable Care Act, to improve the quality of health care and strengthen the public health infrastructure. Funding is double that of 2010 and will go to all 50 states to support critical state, local and territorial health departments' capacity to perform critical epidemiology and laboratory work, detect and prevent health care associated infections and support immunization programs.

Colorado received more than $1 million in CDC infrastructure grants - $725,559 for epidemiology and laboratory capacity and $363,303 for health care associated infections.
