Regional Obesity Rates - Update

The Epidemiology, Planning and Evaluation (EPE) Branch's Renee Calanan is working with the Center for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention to support a request from a reporter with Health Policy Solutions regarding Colorado Obesity rates.  Specifically, Renee has produced two data sets for obesity rate averages over the past 3 years for both adults and children, by Colorado region.  To support the request, Prevention Services staff are also working closely with LiveWell Colorado, who will be supporting a visit by the reporter to a LiveWell Community (Bent County).

The request follows on the F as in Fat Report by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  The Robert Wood Johnson Report isn't the only report being released nationally regarding obesity rates.  The National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion is set to release, on Tuesday, July 19, new obesity estimates by states.  In support of this release from the CDC, a video has also been posted aimed at explaining the many factors that contributed to the national obesity epidemic, and showcases several initiatives taking place to prevent and reduce obesity.
